To learn, or not to learn: that is the question: Whether we should train for work or take broad-based education? We learn whole our life, starting from the first breath, ending at last thoughts. We absorb the most useful knowledge from our surroundings without thinking. More we learn, more easily we manage with everyday tasks. Nowadays requires are totally different than hundred years ago. You never know what will be needed in your future life or work career.
We can often hear that schools don’t prepare for further life or work. That is obviously undefined, however this accusation is ridiculous. School is not able to predict what kind of job we need. They can teach us the most common skills and teach how to get ready for different jobs.
In my opinion schools should develop this kind of skills which let us deal with unexpected obstacles. After school we should know how to learn new skills quickly and that is the most important ability.
You can always say: “What is school for, if it’s useless, if, after several years in this «prison», I can’t find job, which allows me to earn millions. I can learn more in work, my boss will pay for training and it will give me much more useful practical knowledge.” Nothing is more foolish. I’m not an opponent of work training, it’s always helpful, but the main point is which can enable us to find ourselves in adult life.
Summing up I would like to encourage all people who it concerns to take from school as much as possible. It’s the best time to gain new skills because brain works on its highest power.
